Dedham Square Improvement Project

The Dedham Square Improvement Project, which will make major safety and aesthetic improvements to Dedham Square, will break ground in Spring 2012.  The improvements include:

Safety:

• Shorter crosswalks so pedestrians spend less time crossing the streets
• Bump-outs for better visibility between pedestrians and drivers
• Installation of new traffic signals at High Street and Eastern Avenue and at High Street and Washington Street
• A completely redone municipal lot which will add 20 more parking spots

Accessibility:

• ADA-compliant brick-lined sidewalks and new curb cuts for improved safety and access for those with disabilities

Aesthetics:

• More than 600 trees and shrubs will be planted
• Energy-efficient LED versions of historic gas lamps
• Herringbone brick crosswalks
• Resurfacing of the Keystone Lot (municipal parking lot)

The Dedham Square Circle, in partnership with the Town of Dedham, has launched “Dedham Square  Is Open For Business”, a comprehensive marketing and promotions campaign to continue to draw people to the Square during construction.   The campaign includes special events, promotions,and continued public relations efforts to encourage people to visit the Square and patronize the small businesses.
